I started playing hockey at GEBA in Buenos Aires. When we moved to the Netherlands I started playing hockey at Almeerse where I played hockey until I was 18. From the age of 18 until now I play for Amsterdam in the first team.

I was 21 years old at my first Olympic Games, which took place in London.

The build up to this tournament was very special. It was my second big tournament!
The first was the World Cup in India in 2010. But of course the run-up was exciting, you
wonders if you are there and you do everything you can. We had a great season with Amsterdam in which we won the indoor title, field title and lost the shoot outs in the EHL final. A small blemish but a really great year! I continued that line myself and that resulted in the selection of London! As an athlete and certainly as a hockey player, you dream of the Games and that I was allowed to go to my first was really a ʻdream come trueʼ.

My feeling when I arrived at the Olympic village was incredible. Like walking around in a candy store for the first time as a kid….
The greatest athletes are there and everyone is relaxed and nice to each other. A magical place where the greatest sports performances are achieved in 2 weeks!
Besides meeting sports legends like Lebron James, it was great to share this great adventure with my team and all my friends. Training hard but also enjoying it together and the realization that you are at your first Olympic Games, very special.

My favorite moment of the Games is the semi-final against Great Britain. This
semi-final we played in London against the home country. Before the match we knew we had a good chance but that it would be very difficult, especially because we would have the crowd against us. Still we won this semi-final 9-2. The biggest disappointment for me was the semi-final against Belgium in 2016. We played a great tournament, where we won 4-0 against title favorite Australia.
However, we were unable to hold on to that. Too bad, but it was a great experience to
to experience another Olympic Games!

If I had to describe the feeling the Games gave me I would say: The ultimate goal for an athlete! You do everything you can... You dream about it,
besides, as I described earlier, it is a place where in 2 weeks the very best
the most beautiful sporting performances are achieved.
